Under the Scope

This cheek cell is just one of many from a swab in your mouth. The dark blue central spot is the nucleus, the dark smaller spots are ribosomes, and the slightly yellow blobs are vacuoles.

Two Moons

This month Jupiter is high in the sky and is putting on exceptional views. This image, taken with an eight inch telescope, shows the power of a barlow lense. A barlow lense doubles the magnification of an object. The Jupiter on the left is half the size of the one on the right. Barlow lenses make a great addition to any telescope. They not only double the magnification, but also keep the resolution! There are two main bands on jupiter and two darker poles. Storms also thrive on Jupiter. In this image three storms cluster around the lower pole.
