The importance of social sciences has been noted more and new issues pop up throughout the world, especially in Britain where in 2012 the British government decided to increase funding for the social sciences as they would for the physical sciences. The increased use of social sciences helps us understand about the human mind and delve more into the phenomena of the human psyche.
Knowing the definition of the term social science and all the branches connected to it, we should know the different methods of social research. There are two main designs when conducting social research, Quantitative design or Qualitative design.
When we use the term social science, there is a vast array of meanings it could have. Social science has become a general term for several different topics all of which have lines between them that are both vague and random.
The reason for the several branches in social science has to do with it’s benefits, through social science research we are able to categorize the benefits and downfalls of taking a certain action, we are able to predict the reactions of individuals in a society when faced with a specific issues, however we cannot generate a new product through social sciences as we can with physical sciences, but what we can do is generate documents and data on the performance, benefits and disadvantages of a product. It could also be discussed –such as what scientist Ruttan argued, that social science research is significant mainly because it nurtures recognized changes.
