Mark Malmberg builds solar powered, robotic sculptures which he calls Mobiles. Following
his MFA in abstract ceramic sculpture, he moved on to the then emerging world of Computer Graphics in 1988. After holding a position as Creative Director of Xaos Inc. for ten years
and winning numerous awards for his animation and directing work from organizations such
as ArtFutura and the National Computer Graphics Association, he returned to his roots as a
sculptor. Merging computer coding and hand-worked fabrication, his robots beep, sing, and
dance with one another. His Mobiles have been exhibited in places such as the Albuquerque
Museum of Art, Schuylkill Environmental Center, and the Lawrence Hall of Science.
