A SAMPLING OF COURSES IN BIOCHEMISTRY
Advanced Biochemistry Cell Biology Immunology Medicinal Chemistry Molecular Genetics Physical Chemistry Physiology
Biochemistry focuses on integrating and applying chemical and biological principles to explore and understand the chemistry of living organisms .
Within the program , students will be grounded in the chemical , physical , and biological principles that characterize living systems . They will develop an interdisciplinary mindset that prepares them to embrace the interdependent nature of these areas of study . Students will gain a wide range of technical skills required in the modern workforce in both research and industrial environments .

BIOCHEMISTRY

Bachelor of Science
ELLEN M . ROSKES
Associate Dean and Chair , Chemistry , Mathematics and Physics and Professor , Chemistry ; B . A ., M . A ., Ph . D ., The Johns Hopkins University
Working with modern instrumentation in wellequipped lab facilities , students also will acquire excellent lab and analytical skills that will prepare them for future employment or furthering their studies . All students complete a Senior Capstone course . Faculty and staff work with each student individually to find a research or internship placement that is directly related to their career interests . This allows students to gain the practical experience needed for success in applying for jobs , graduate schools , and professional schools . Graduates from the program will be well prepared to meet the rapidly changing research , clinical , and technical demands of our modern world , preparing them for careers in many areas of science . In addition , these students are well prepared for careers in medicine , dentistry , pharmacy , physical therapy and other health sciences , as well as for research and industrial positions . Graduates of the biochemistry major may also continue on to receive a Master of Science in Forensic Science or a Master of Arts in Teaching at Stevenson . For more information , see pages 14-17 in this brochure .
