The bachelor’ s program in medical laboratory science combines biology and chemistry with medicine and clinical sciences to prepare students for an exciting career in laboratory medicine. Medical laboratory scientists play a key role in the healthcare team by providing the laboratory test results that assist physicians in patient diagnosis, treatment, and maintenance of overall health.

Certified graduates are qualified to work in all areas of the medical laboratory, including clinical microbiology, hematology, clinical chemistry, blood banking, immunology, and molecular diagnostics. Medical laboratory scientists work wherever laboratory testing is performed, developed, and researched, including hospitals, biomedical and forensic laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, and fertility centers. Graduates may also find careers in infection control, marketing, technical sales and services, health information technology, teaching and consulting.
