Doctoral Colloquium 3-Minute Thesis ( 3MT )
The Doctoral Colloquium & Early Career Academics Network ( ECN ) Concentric 2023 was a platform that empowered PhD students to present and discuss their research work before a diverse audience comprising peers , supervisors and esteemed researches from Monash and other institutions . During the panel session on the first day , Prof Erniel Barrios and Prof Teh Pei Lee delved into “ How to Capitalise Networking from Government and Industry ”. Subsequently , Dr Juliana French and Dr Shafiullah Anis led a workshop on “ AI-Assisted Qualitative Research ” the next day . The two-day event also allowed attendees to engage in team-building activities , fostering camaradarie and collaboration that are essential for cultivating a supportive academic community .
The Three-Minute Thesis ( 3MT ®) is an academic research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland , showcasing the innovative research of PhD students in Australia and worldwide . The main goal is for participants to convey their PhD research in just three minutes using language accessible to a non-specialist audience .
In 2023 , Mohamed Framjee Dinul Hathy won the School of Business Three Minute Thesis competition with his research titled ‘ Religiosity in the face of Storms : Evidence from the US ,’ supervised by Prof Grace Lee , Dr Audrey Siah , and Dr Habibur Rahman . Md Iltemas Amin Adee was awarded first runner-up , with Liew Yit Wey as second runner-up .
NEW GRADUATE RESEARCH STUDENTS
Completed PhD and Honours graduates In 2023 , three graduate students completed their PhD programs and four students completed the Honours program at the School of Business with a focus on addressing global business challenges and advancing knowledge in emerging topics like responsible management and sustainability .
