RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
The School of Business engages in dynamic and impactful activities , such as the Pasar Pintu project , alongside hosting enriching workshops and seminars . Our community is committed to advancing knowledge and addressing global challenges through innovative research .
Research Grant-Writing Seminar In our ongoing efforts to enhance success in securing research funding , the School hosted a Fundamental Research Grant Scheme ( FRGS ) proposal writing seminar led by Prof Shahriman Zainal Abidin from UiTM . Renowned for securing over MYR1.6 million in research grants and serving as a FRGS committee member , he provided invaluable insights into crafting successful grant proposals .

Pasar Pintu Project
Dr . Shazmin Khalid and Prof . Avvari V . Mohan are leading a community case study focused on the ‘ Pasar Pintu ’ initiative , which enables the direct delivery of goods from wet markets to consumers ’ homes . Initially conceived as a health and wellness program by Selvamar Selvaraju of Primus Wellness , Pasar Pintu aims to educate women from B40 families on nutrition while establishing a sustainable business model in alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals ( SDGs ). The project primarily targets the Batu Muda PPR ( Peoples ’ Housing Projects ) residences , which predominantly accommodate the B40 community in Malaysia . Alongside representatives from the Ministry of Health , the project team is undergoing a series of stakeholder engagement sessions to finalize their findings .
Research Impact Workshops The School facilitated an Introduction to Research Impact Masterclass , designed to demystify the concept of research impact . Led by Dr Tamika Heiden , the virtual workshop showcased the essentials of research impact , emphasising the impact logic model and effective impact activities . Conducted on 14 April and 7 July 2023 , these sessions provided attendees with the tools to comprehend and communicate the significance of their research outcomes . This initiative highlighted the School ’ s commitment to maximising the societal and academic influence of our research endeavours .
Partnering with the World Bank ’ s East Asia & Pacific Chief Economist Research Center and Bank Negara Malaysia , researchers and doctoral students from the Department of Economics presented their ongoing research to the World Bank community and other partners .

Early Career Network ( ECN )
The Early Career Academics Network ( ECN ) at the School of Business brings together early career academics from across the Faculty of Business and Economics . It serves as a platform for the discussion and dissemination of pertinent information and ideas relevant to early career researchers , while also facilitating interdepartmental research collaboration .
In 2023 , the school ’ s ECN is aligned with the four core aspects of the campus-level ECN . It focuses on supervision strategy , academic profile building , high-impact publication strategy and research sharing . p 37
