MKM5955 Marketing and the International Consumer

This unit aims to equip students with practical understanding on the development , implementation , and control of marketing plans in the global context . In Semester 2 , 2022 , the activities of this unit were aligned to the topical issue on the “ use of Artificial Intelligence in Marketing ”. The students attended guest lectures , reflected on the topic , and prepared a marketing plan to incorporate AI for their own start-up . In-class activities included Kahoot quizzes , critiquing on ethical issues in marketing , and activities using Jamboard . Finally , the students developed oneminute advertisements for their AI-based start-up . Throughout the semester , students were provided with detailed , formative , and individual feedback so that they could continually improve on their learning .
MGM5251 Innovation and Entrepreneurship

In this unit , students are assessed by their performance in activities that authentically simulate real-world experiences . One of the major assessment items is a group challenge that requires students to work together to develop a new business idea . In alignment to the Principles of Responsible Management Education ( PRME ) of which the School champions , students are encouraged to pursue ideas linked to one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals . To this end , students engage with actual entrepreneurs via a guest lecture series throughout the semester and pitch their business ideas to a panel of professionals including venture capitalists . Furthermore , the task requires the development of a physical or digital prototype for the proposed solution with support provided via access to the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Hub ( eiHub ) maker space at the School of Business .

In this forum , Esther shared her experience in integrating self-determination theory into the design of weekly quizzes for MGW1010 Introduction to Management with the outcome of increasing active student engagement in the unit . It includes the experimentations , reflections and outcomes from this learning process . Sa ’ adiah shared the importance of having a proper lesson plan to encourage interaction and engagement during synchronous and asynchronous learning sessions . She also shared some tips and tricks to foster better student participation .

Education Forum

The Education Forum is an initiative to provide staff with the latest information on education and teaching innovation , as well as a platform for the sharing of best practices among the Monash academic community .
Joo Ee shared her experience in implementing authentic assessment in the Business Law & Taxation units . She highlighted the good practices and pitfalls , and in particular , the challenges of creating hypothetical scenarios within the boundary of the syllabus .

Presented by Tristan Cui , Educational Designer from Monash University Australia
Tristan Cui shared about the various education technology tools available for educators , such as “ menti . com ”, “ perusall . com ”, “ edstem . org ”, “ jamboard ” and “ slack ” as well as ways to incorporate these technologies into the teaching pedagogy . He also presented real cases of how other Monash University colleagues have designed active learning activities .
Education Forum 4 ( AACSB : What , why and how is it related to our School ?)
Presented by Dr Jane Tong
Jane shared the latest updates and changes to the AACSB standards and practices . This session was conducted to keep new and existing faculty abreast to the What , Why and How of AACSB accreditation process , as the School is expected to undergo the next accreditation cycle in 2024 .
Teaching Associate Induction program ( TAIP )
Teaching Associate Induction Program ( TAIP ) is a briefing session conducted to prepare new sessional tutors as they embark on the Monash teaching track . The briefing session covers vital topics like Dos and Don ’ ts , Learning and Teaching strategies , Unacceptable behavior and Teaching Quality & Innovation .
