Year 10
Reported by: Miss Halsall
This has been a great term for 10H, gaining lots of achievement certificates and with many students
being involved in preparations for the various festivities taking place in school, whether it is singing,
performing or technical support.
Everyone has been working very hard on their studies this term; Drama students have been very busy
with their recent performance, Catering and Hospitality students made fabulous afternoon teas as part of
their controlled assessment, Art students have an exhibition before Christmas and everyone has had a
Science ISA to complete. That is only 4 subjects, there is so much more going on and we are still finding
time to remember others; we are looking forward to ‘make a difference’ day and I am very proud to say
10H have been particularly generous in the toy appeal.
As a form we have spent time discussing hardship and find it very upsetting
that one in four children in Lancashire won’t get any Christmas presents,
hopefully with the kindness shown in this toy appeal we can reduce that
number.
Year 11
Reported by: Mr Norbury
The new academic year started with new promises and aspirations. The year 10 pupils who left back in
July have returned as young adults. In their smart business suits, with focus, drive and determination
they hit the road running. Embarking on their final GCSE year, their ambitions to achieve has only gone
from strength to strength.
This term we have seen Open Days for different 6th Forms pushing pupils to knuckle down in their
studies. With our own 6th Form Open Day gaining massive interest from both internal and external
candidates, our careers advisor, Miss Halsall, has been inundated with requests to help students with
their 6th Form applications and pupils have been scrutinising their own effort, target grades and
predicted grades.
Now, as the Christmas break approaches, our eyes look towards the Mock GCSE examinations
