Make A Difference Day
Reported by: The Pastoral Team
As part of our Well – Being Programme, Middle School
and College pupils will take part in our Make a Difference
Day on December 10th (Year 11 are otherwise engaged with
examination preparation).
We plan to take Year 5 and 6 out carol singing to local rest homes and care
homes in the vicinity.
Years 7 and 8 will be baking, making and producing cards and gifts for needy people in the area who
otherwise might not be receiving many gifts this Christmas.
Year 9 will be volunteers for Sefton Rangers for the afternoon doing litter-picking and dune repair work at
Formby, whilst Year 10 will be helping at the Gorse Hill Nature Reserve in Aughton.
We hope that in some small way Scarisbrick Hall School pupils will be making a difference in our local
community this Christmas time.

Remembrance Assembly
2014
Reported by: Miss Rawstron
This year marks the 100th Year anniversary of the start of World War One and so it was important that this
was remembered and highlighted at Scarisbrick Hall.
During the school assembly, the students showed the upmost respect while listening to the impact that
war has had on my family, as well as listening to a modern war poem read out by Jack Wright in Year 8. As
it is the centenary and with the poppies at the Tower of London as inspiration, students then took part in
‘Scarisbrick Remembers’ where they spent a lesson reflecting on the different wars and conflicts that
British and Commonwealth troops have been involved in and the impact that war has had on Britain.
During this Remembrance lesson, they took part in discussions relating to wars that have been fought and
their own personal experiences were shared. Students were then asked to create their own poppy in any
way that they wished, as an individual remembrance piece of art. They are all unique, with many adding
names of loved one, war poems, images as well as some simply coloured red. Each of these poppies will
form our own version of the poppy field in London and will create a field of poppies in the History
classroom here at Scarisbrick Hall School.
