Year 4 Reported By: Mr Meredith It has been a very exciting and busy start to life in Year 4, here are just some of the things we have been up to: Robots Topic Most of our work this term has been spent learning all about Robots. We all loved this topic, carrying out lots of exciting activities. In English lessons we studied the story of The Iron Man, which was brilliant! The class produced some excellent writing, and really developed our use of similes and metaphors to help add description. We also wrote some fantastic news reports about Scarisbrick Hall being invaded by an army of robots! To help with this we took photographs of robots around school; by taking the pictures from close up we made them appear larger than they actually were! Also during the Robot topic we produced some fantastic art work with Mrs Burton, including looking at the styles artist Andy Warhol; we really enjoyed this. Designing a ‘Robot of the Future’ was a favourite activity, with many of the children creating a robot which would help around the home – one which would help do their homework for them proved to be an extremely popular idea Our Class Assembly was a great success; parents enjoyed finding out about the work we had covered in class, as well as being entertained by some singing and dancing, which we prepared with help from Mrs Gloyne. Mountains In the second half of the term Year 4 have been learning all about ‘Mighty Mountains’. We have discovered where the largest mountain ranges are located, as well as learning about the largest mountains in the world. Part of our work has also involved researching famous mountaineers, and learning about what it is actually like to climb one of these large mountains. We have enjoyed ;
