Year 4
Reported By: Mr Meredith
It has been a very exciting and busy start to
life in Year 4, here are just some of the
things we have been up to:
Robots Topic
Most of our work this term has been spent
learning all about Robots. We all loved this
topic, carrying out lots of exciting activities. In English lessons we studied the story of The Iron Man, which
was brilliant! The class produced some excellent writing, and really developed our use of similes and
metaphors to help add description. We also wrote some fantastic news reports about Scarisbrick Hall being
invaded by an army of robots! To help with this we took photographs of robots around school; by taking the
pictures from close up we made them appear larger than they actually were!
Also during the Robot topic we produced some fantastic art work with Mrs Burton, including looking at the
styles artist Andy Warhol; we really enjoyed this.
Designing a ‘Robot of the Future’ was a favourite activity, with many of the children
creating a robot which would help around the home – one which would help do their
homework for them proved to be an extremely popular idea
Our Class Assembly was a great success; parents enjoyed finding out about the work we
had covered in class, as well as being entertained by some singing and dancing, which we
prepared with help from Mrs Gloyne.
Mountains
In the second half of the term Year 4 have been learning all about ‘Mighty
Mountains’. We have discovered where the largest mountain ranges are
located, as well as learning about the largest mountains in the world. Part
of our work has also involved researching famous mountaineers, and
learning about what it is actually like to climb one of these large
mountains. We have enjoyed ;
