The BMW M 1000 RR is the best example for that ; this bike has been fully developed based on the experiences we have made by racing the BMW S 1000 RR in WorldSBK .”
BMW looks to have been putting more focus on WorldSBK recently , and Markus agrees this is the case . “ Exactly , we are going ‘ full throttle ’ with our WorldSBK project ,” he said . “ If you commit yourself to a project like WorldSBK , you can ’ t do that half-heartedly . We have a goal : to make it to the top . Our long-term target is to become world champions . That is not an easy task . The competition is very high , and our competitors can look back on many , many years of experience in the series . Compared to that , our project is still young , even if we are in the third season . At this level of competition , our target would clearly not be achievable without commitment and focus . We are fully focused and put in all our efforts to achieve to get closer to our goal step by step . Also the capabilities we have with the M brand will get us there .” One area where WorldSBK has a jump on other production derived series is in electronic freedoms , There are some limits , to hold down costs for privateers more than anything , but the ability to be the alpha and omega of your electronics ideas and hardware is important for BMW .
