He is so chilled about it all too , and looks almost relaxed on the bike too .
Starting the 2021 season at 21 years of age , with no previous WorldSBK experience , Bassani had already ridden in seven different race classes , including all three of the previous feeder classes inside the WorldSBK paddock . After watching the curly haired and wide-eyed Italian , always smiling and easy going in his nature , take part in his first WorldSBK season on a privateer Ducati in a relatively inexperienced team you could be forgiven for thinking that the rider he most reminds you of is a young … yes , I am going to say it … Valentino Rossi . In some ways only the GOAT results are missing . His nationality , demeanour , and a lack of fear of his rivals mixed with a complete respect for them …? Yes , a young Rossi is at least close to what Bassani comes across like . What he has done this year , at times , is remarkable on track . Second in the wet at Catalunya was a wake-up call for all to his talents . Maybe even more impressively he harried all the ‘ big boys ’ during the return to Argentina , even through he could not quite jump onto the podiums with them . First time there in his first season on a big bike of any kind ? He looked like a veteran . He is so chilled about it all too , and looks almost relaxed on the bike too . Surely a great future awaits him over the next few years ?
