Of all the pieces of protective kit a WorldSBK competitor can call on when the inevitability of a crash suddenly becomes a reality is or her crash helmet . This is not only the most important safety item , it is usually the most personal to them . In an increasingly corporate world it is arguably the last piece of safety equipment that riders can express their character , loyalties or just their sense of personal taste through .
It is nothing less than an unmistakeable identifier for the fans too . I mean , how often can you take a quick glimpse at the TV screen and instantly recognise a particular rider , simply because you can see a unique flash of colour and design ?
