With the addition of Most , and shortly afterwards another all-new - for WorldSBK at least - circuit at Navarra in Spain , the rebooted future of WorldSBK starts here , but certainly does not end here

A delegation from those who were going to build Most as a permanent racing circuit went on fact-finding missions to Hockenheim and the Nürburgring to see how things were done and glean some specialist information . The original 4.149 kilometre track , with 20 corners , was used until a new and very tight right / left chicane appeared at T1 , adding one extra corner to get to the layout we use today - as far as the asphalt itself is concerned . The circuit has invested almost 600,000 Euros in immediate upgrades to the track to be able to host a WorldSBK event , mostly in extending the run off areas , which took 150 truckloads of new gravel to complete . 550 metres of FIM approved foam barriers , plus air fence , will also be used . More angled cut outs in the trackside barriers have been introduced to retrieve any crashed or broken down machines more speedily and safely , as well as new high grip homologated paint being applied on the kerbs and track markings . The circuit asphalt has been undergoing replacement in sections for several years . One glance at Most from an overhead view and you can see it is going to be an intense test for the WorldSBK riders , and all the other support classes which will take part this weekend . It features no fewer than 21 corners , half of them right handers , along its relatively short 4.212 km length . Other than the start / finish straight it is a series of curves , sweeps and sectors that flow into each other , with one very heavy braking zone into the 90 ° chicane formed by Turn One and Turn Two . A fast Turn Four-through-Five will be test for all , but after that it has one hairpin , but otherwise wriggles and winds its way through what some would consider to be a series of consecutive switchbacks , of varying radii and speed . Many of these funnel into each other until the final two right handers of T20 and T21 feed the riders back onto the start finish straight . Scott Redding has taken part in a trackday at Most , on a road version of his Ducati V4R , and said it was not a particularly easy track to learn . Grass bankings and two covered grandstands rise from the hillside looking over the startline , on a site that is - almost - like the Sachsenring or Brands Hatch , in that has paddock facilities and parking areas etc exist on a number of levels and inclines . After a 2020 WorldSBK season that was unavoidably truncated and heavily based on events in the Iberian peninsula , the re-appearance of races like Misano , Donington and Assen have already put WorldSBK back on a more expansive future course . With the addition of Most , and shortly afterwards another all-new - for WorldSBK at least - circuit at Navarra in Spain , the rebooted future of WorldSBK starts here , but certainly does not end here
