The simple answer to how almost all of the bikes and equipment that WorldSBK needs to function as a European-based race series in far-away Argentina is that it will all be crated up in special cases , transported from the final European round in Portugal , and will then be fitted inside two cargo-only charter flights . All in , there will be 150 tonnes of WorldSBK paddock equipment flown from Europe to Argentina to allow WorldSBK get on with the important job of deciding who will be World Champion in 2021 , in both WorldSBK and WorldSSP classes . Each team qualifies for a freight allowance but exactly how much each team gets varies . But anything between 2,000kg and 3,000kg is the average . There is , surprisingly to me at least , no limit on the total number of crates and cases that can be brought as long as they make the weight allowances . With air-freight costs being relatively huge the simple fact is that a lot of things you see at a European round simply do not get taken to the fly-away rounds .
The Paddock Show - complete with stage , PA , etc , - is not travelling to El Villicum but an Argentinian version of it will be provided by the local event organisers , to keep as much consistency with Europe as possible . In Europe there are eight official Safety Cars or Medical Cars , but only two are taken to a long haul event ( both by sea , way in advance ). None of the eight Dorna scooters used in Europe will make the journey to Argentina either . The whole idea is of course to reduce the amount , the volume and weight , of material to take by air to make each event happen . Some things have top go by air - team stuff that has been used very recently for races - but lots of other vital material is sent by sea . It takes longer but costs so much less . Hence , championship partner and single make tyre supplier PireIli has long ago sent three containers full of tyres by sea , the track advertising has already gone over the waves and even cooking units from the official Ducati and Kawasaki teams are already in Argentina . All this herculean effort is managed by Dorna staff from the Logistics
