THE SILVER ARROW · OFFICIAL PROGRAMME
I left home when I was 15 years old . This is crazy because I ’ m 30 now . When I left home , I never raced again in Argentina . So , for me , it was very emotional the first year at Villicum . I didn ’ t know what to expect . So , it was a big surprise - because it was a very nice feeling . The support of the people , to see my family there , friends … Some people follow me , friends who follow me all my life , all my career , but never saw me race ‘ live .’ I felt a big support . It was very nice . So , the first year was very special . I enjoy it now because I can go home for one week and see my family and friends in Cordoba . It ’ s also different because we will go together with all my family . We will travel by car to the track . I think it is six hours . But , I have never driven there before . I will really enjoy this aspect also .”
Now Tati has been a champion in the USA and a champion in Europe , what would he say to any young Argentinian kid who wanted to follow in his footsteps ? “ It ’ s not only racing ,” he said . “ You have to be very determined . You have to know where you want to arrive first , and you have to be convinced . It ’ s not easy . It ’ s a very hard way . When I say it ’ s not only racing it ’ s because we come from very far away , so you have to live in Europe . You have to leave your home , your family , friends , and stay here and work here to achieve and to grow up here in Europe . So , it ’ s many things . It ’ s many sacrifices . So , that ’ s why you have to be determined and convinced about where you want to arrive .”
It has been a long and challenging road for Argentina ’ s main man in the WorldSBK paddock , but Tati ’ s AMA Supersport and STK1000 titles are golden milestones in a career that has spanned the Americas , sailed across the South Pacific and then took him to almost every continent in the world as a pro racer . And he isn ’ t done yet .
