The Joanina Library is known as the historic center
of the University of Coimbra. It was built in the 18th
century during the reign of the Portugese King João
V and named after him. The library has collection
about 250,000 volumes. It was also chosen to be part
of the sets in the latest 2017 ‘Beauty and The Beast’
film. The library concepts and designs in their reading
rooms includes bookshelves, architecture and gilded
woodcarving decoration looks so ancient, historical
and magnificent. It is like representing the old
medieval of a Royal Place in Portugal.
The Klementinum library among
the beautiful example of Baroque
architecture and the biggest
library in Czech Republic. The
library contains around 6 million
documents, books, manuscripts
and photographs. The main hall of
the library is very beautiful and so
artistic. It is filled with the antique
astronomical globes throughout
the room and old clocks. The old
clock is designed and handcrafted
by Jan Klein, an 18th astronomer
and mathematician.
The Royal Portuguese Reading Room founded
in 1822 by three immigrants who wants to bring
the literacy tradition of their homeland to newly
independent Brazil. The library was designed in the
Gothic Renaissance theme. All sides of the room is
surrounded by three stories of bookshelves that holds
over 9 million collection includes rare books, original
manuscripts, unique proofs and singular works of
literature. Every year the library will receives 6,000
titles and the numbers of the collection will keep on
going.
National Library of France, located
in the heart of Paris. It holds about
14 million of collection includes
printed documents, manuscripts,
photographs, maps, plans, old coins,
medals, video and many more. Their
Manuscripts department houses
known as the largest collection of
medieval and modern manuscript
worldwide that contains some
eastern literature, ancient history
and literary manuscripts by Pascal,
Apollinaire and Diderot.
The Abbey Library of St. Gallen,
located in Switzerland. The library
has a huge collection of precious
manuscripts and documents since
8th to 15th centuries includes the
earliest-known architectural plan
drawn on parchment. It is also
recognized under UNESCO World
Heritage Site for being among the
most perfect libraries of a great
Carolingian monastery with its
beautiful carved wood design,
paint and stucco.
