Another contemporary artist would be ‘Aardman animations’ who are the company that produces
the ‘Morph’ series and the movie ‘Chicken Run’. The company
was founded in 1972 by Peter Lord and David Sproxton. To
begin with, the duo produced an animated series for the BBC
which catered towards deaf children. Next the company
began to focus on other projects such as ‘Greeblies’ in 1975
where they began to experiment with clay animation.
Through ‘Greeblies’ came ‘Morph’ which began in 1977, the
series was directed by Peter Lord. The show was a wild
success and runs to this day, I personally believe this success
was thanks to the simplicity of the series, the simplistic
comedy attracts a wide audience and is widely considered to
be funny. Another production produced by Aardman
animations would be ‘Chicken Run’ which was the companies
highest grossing production. It was also the companies first feature length production. Chicken Run
was also created with clay models however the designs were more complex and it was aimed at
children, by making the designs more complex it adds more character to the models which then
meant that the children would get more attached to them as characters.
