Guinness World Record Attempt - Fastest Marathon Dressed as a Rooster

As if running a marathon isn ’ t already enough of a challenge , animal loving civil engineer Ross ‘ The Rooster ’ Dold will hit the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon route dressed as a rooster .

His aim : To raise funds for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA ’ s Mobile Clinics , while also breaking a Guinness World Record in the process .
The official record that Ross is aiming to break on 16 October is ‘ Fastest Marathon Dressed as a Bird ’, with the record currently standing at 4 hours and 15 minutes . Ross aims to run a sub-four marathon on 16 October , wearing his 4.6kg costume .
He has run many races dressed in an animal costume to raise awareness for the SPCA , but this year he is going bigger and better . “ The SPCA ’ s mobile clinics do thankless work for stray and rescued animals , as well as for domestic pets whose owners can ’ t afford private veterinary care . They are a team close to my heart .” But Ross ’ s Guinness World Record attempt isn ’ t just a matter of lacing up , climbing into his suit and
running 42km . He had to submit technical specs of his suit to verify that he would be able to run the marathon safely , and had to get the necessary approvals to run in his oversized mascot costume . On Race Day , he will be accompanied by two independent witnesses - also SPCA fundraisers who happen to be participating - who will verify his run . Ross has been seen along the Mother City ’ s popular road and trail routes , and has even joined a Sanlam Cape Town Marathon Track Thursdays session ! “ My training is going well and my chicken costume is turning heads wherever I run ! Everything is on track ; all that ’ s left to do is run the race .”
