Front Entrance Gardens Revamped Voorste toegangstuine opdatering
San Lameer decided to update the look of the raised flower beds at the front entrance.
Although there was nothing wrong with the indigenous Agapanthus Africana and
assorted aloes growing there, it was felt a cleaner look was needed.
The lovely Umzimbeet trees (Millettia grandis) were left as features and to provide
some shade. Under the trees we removed all the plant material and replanted it
elsewhere on the estate.
This was replaced with concrete tree rings around the bases of the trees with Duzi
gravel and weathered rock placed on top of rolls of Bidim to prevent the stone from
mixing into the soil and secondary to prevent weeds from showing up in the duzi
gravel.
An assortment of indigenous flowering small aloes, Strelitzia juncea and a few grasses
provide a minimalist planting plan to create some interest.
It is a good example of a low maintenance, water wise, indigenous garden Dit is 'n goeie voorbeeld van 'n lae instandhouding, wateragtige, inheemse tuin..
