25 Pollinator Boulevard Public Works crews and community volunteers transformed a stretch of the Dolores Street median from a water-thirsty lawn into a beautiful landscaped habitat. The Dolores Street Pollinator Boulevard project created a healthy garden with California poppies, sages and other blooming plants that produce pollen and nectar for bees, butterflies and other beneficial insects. The garden is designed in rainbow colors with peak blooms coinciding with Pride festivities in June. just south of Market Street. Public Works helped organizers navigate the permit and grant processes and assisted with workday traffic control, provided tools and helped mulch and plant. The hope is to add more Dolores Street blocks to Pollinator Boulevard. The project started with a one-block stretch of the Dolores Street median baselandscape.com/portfolio/pollinator- boulevard Funding for the project came through a Community Challenge Grant and is part of the Street Parks program in partnership with BASE Landscape Architecture.
