Jersey legal updates
Coming into force in April 2017
• Failure to provide written particulars of employment i.e. an employment
contract (or any changes to employment) or a written itemised pay statement
will incur up to four week’s pay in compensation in addition to any potential
fine for non-compliance
• Employment protection for armed forces reservists will now come into force.
Amendments include an army reservist’s right to the same job or an equivalent
job after a period of service, so asking about outside commitments and plans
with the reservists unit will be a legitimate question during interviews, as well
as notifying employers of their intention to return. More detail can be found
here.
• Jersey’s minimum wage will increase to £7.18; training rates will also increase
to £5.39 for a year 1 trainee, and £6.28 for a year 2. Further guidance and
approved training can be found on the JACS website.
For advice on what these changes mean to your business, or help with
implementation, contact Becky Hill on 747559 or at [email protected].
