Smile

A smile for what?

A smile for whom?

There is no reason to smile,

When your life is in ruins.

A smile for happiness.

A smile for them.

There is reason to smile,

When your world stands again

Numerous people have asked me about my smile. Apparently it is nonexistent. Complete strangers question me as to why I “never smile”. These inquiries continue to puzzle me. Surely I do not seem as unhappy as these people imply, yet maybe this is why I was informed that I scared a group of small children. Maybe I am too conservative, only smiling when “there is reason to smile”. An endless gesture loses its meaning. Smiling forever would just appear creepy. I might need a rulebook on how to appear normal and not extremely dissatisfied with life in public.
