The transition entailed the local government elections which were held on 03 August 2016. Prior, during and post the election, SALGA was engaged with supporting municipalities to manage the local government elections and related matters. Some key projects included rolling out of the SALGA integrated councillor induction programme and convening provincial and national conferences. The conferences included the election of new leadership for SALGA as well as setting a new strategic agenda for the next five years. 49 SALGA ANNUAL REPORT 2016/17 Much progress has been registered in the delivery of the SALGA’s mandate and the strategic goals as set in the 2016/17 Annual Performance Plan.
