The employee wellness activities are intended to promote healthy, dedicated, responsive and productive employees who add value to SALGA’s mandate. An Employee Wellness day, focusing on environmental issues, hygiene, nutrition, and mind games, Financial Wellness Workshop, Goal Setting and Staying motivated and health screening were held. Further, Men and Women dialogue, Work- life balance awareness session, and Cancer awareness sessions were held. Cases handled through the EWP during the year include; family legal issues, couple relationship, debt management advice & planning; trauma and family related counselling and bereavement support were managed for the period under review. The employee recognition awards is SALGA’s way of recognising excellence in employees. Employees who perform well and also go the extra mile while executing the SALGA mandate, are nominated by their fellow staff members in order to become eligible for an award. Recognition is an important component in the HR value chain. A formal recognition programme such as SALGA’s Employee Recognition Awards (ERA) serves as a catalyst to encourage even more outstanding work amongst employees. SALGA furthermore promotes the concept of working collaboratively in a team as well as forming multi-disciplinary teams to achieve a certain strategic objective. A reward category recognising and rewarding the best team was therefore included in the awards categories. Traditionally the ERA awards, being the prestigious event focusing on excellence within SALGA, have been held annually in December and in close proximity of the SALGA National Office.
