We asked Dr. Thomas a few questions to help you get to know
her better. Here are her responses.
Why do you want to be principal at Saint Ursula Academy?
Saint Ursula Academy does a terrific job at creating an
environment that promotes academic excellence, honors
the uniqueness of each person, and transforms young
women into thinkers, leaders, nurturers, and prophets. One
critically important component of this environment is the
array of adults who serve as role models who truly embrace
and live out the Ursuline core values and Saint Ursula
mission. I am honored to be a part of this adult community
and believe that I, too, can be a positive role model for the
girls. Though my story, professional and personal, may be
similar to many, the one thing that I am most proud of are
my imperfections. Being a female leader tends to mandate
confidence and perfection; my journey to leadership has
been the result of limited confidence and imperfections. As
principal, I hope to be that role model who embraces her
imperfections in a manner that challenges me to be a more
reflective thinker, intentional servant leader, gentle nurturer,
and wise prophet.

You have spent a lot of time learning about the benefits of an
all girls’ education -- What do you see as the advantages of
an all-girls’ school like SUA?
In an all-girls environment, girls have a voice. They can speak
their truth. They can take risks. They can recover. And, they
can thrive! They can be their authentic selves.
What has been your favorite memory from your first year
at Saint Ursula?
My favorite memory of my first year was being a part of
the Showcase Night. I had a chance to walk through the
various sessions and listen to students, parents, faculty,
and administration talk about all the reasons they love Saint
Ursula Academy. They spoke to holistic care of the people,
the strong sense of community, and the quest for excellence.
Their stories were real, they were heartfelt, and they made
me so proud to be a part of the next generation of leadership
charged with ensuring that we continue to be the top all-girls
school in the Greater Cincinnati area.
