Parent Events: PA Screens Social Media Documentary and Hosts Follow-Up Discussion
An expose of the hidden dangers of social media and its devastating effects on young users, " Can ' t Look Away: The Case Against Social Media” follows the work of the Social Media Victims Law Center. The film intends to be a tool for education and awareness to help parents, educators, and community leaders push for safer digital environments. October’ s evening screening of the documentary in our school ' s Otto-Bernstein Theatre provided Saint David ' s parents, faculty and staff with eye-opening, thought-provoking insights on this important topic. The evening also featured a post-screening discussion with one of the film ' s Directors, Matthew O’ Neill, and Bloomberg Associates Head of Cyber Security and Technology Practice, Jonathan Werbell.
In late January, to further the dialogue around the broader issues presented in the documentary, the PA hosted“ We Won’ t Look Away: A Conversation About the Emotional Well-being of Our Boys.” The panel discussion, led by Saint David’ s psychologist Michael Schwartzman; Sophrosyne Curriculum Chair Evan Morse, and Lower School Sophrosyne Coordinator Nicholas Imbelli, explored the many ways the school helps cultivate boys ' emotional strength and resilience in partnership with our parents.
