ALUMNI NOTES Matthew P. McDermott ’98 is engaged to Carrie Henderson and looks forward to seeing everyone at Saint David’s soon! Jonathan G. Sollis ’98 is a born-and-raised New Yorker who has been acting since he was a child, well at least acting up. Conceived on April Fool’s Day in 1983, he notes that a career in comedy almost seemed like his spiritual calling, that or becoming a doctor. Jonathan majored in theater at Marymount Manhattan College and is a student at the Upright Citizens Brigade Improv Theater in New York. The co-creator and star of the upcoming television show The SkinNY, he has also worked for companies such as KIA, Play Station, and Starburst alongside working in film and television and creating his own projects. When not acting, Jonathan is a well-known New York City DJ and “is often mistaken for Kirstie Alley.” Alexander G. Bandhu ’99 led a 5-week backpacking trip with The Chewonki Foundation through Maine, Quebec, New York, and New Hampshire. He looks forward to “sharing stories from my adventures in the woods with you.” Mario Bueno ’99 advanced to the semi-finals of Next Broadway Star, a Broadway talent contest. David Denton ’99 graduated from Harvard Law School, magna cum laude, in the spring of 2011. He served as an executive editor of the Harvard Law Review. He is now working as a law clerk to Honorable J. Harvie Wilkinson who sits on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. David was also named “Best Oralist” by Chief Justice John Roberts at the Harvard Law School moot court finals. Russell A. Grant ’99 spent last year working with the Afghan EOD (bomb squad) forces in Regional Command East and North. He traveled a great deal while working with the Afghans. He hopes to be back in the US by April 2012. He writes, “My proficiency in French has given me an additional duty to work with French Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED), essentially French EOD. Good luck with the new school year!” Edmund M. Romagnoli ’99 was promoted to Captain of Marines on July 1, 2011, and designated Helicopter Aircraft Commander in October. He flies the CH-46E Sea Knight assault helicopter (aka “Phrog”). He is currently deployed with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and sailed with the USS Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group in November 2011.
