Ancient Egypt in Central Park
Fourth graders visited Cleopatra’s Needle in Central Park, where they identified hieroglyphs on the obelisk. This outside learning activity complemented the boys’ study of ancient Egypt, one of three civilizations they study during the year as part of the history civilizations unit. In addition, the boys visited the Egyptian galleries of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
