ALUMNI NOTES
Benjamin W. White ’58
recently retired and shared
the following message
from the Chair of the
Department of Medicine
- Harvard Medical School
“Recently, we celebrated
the career of Ben White,
a truly superb primary
care physician and teacher,
whose gentle manner,
complete knowledge of his
patients, and utter devotion
to their care have served as
an example for all of us
for decades. Ben always
provided comprehensive
care: as you can see from
the photo, he set up a
dietary exhibit in his office to teach his patients what they
should be eating. He followed his patients into the hospital
and always made sure to connect with their inpatient teams,
assuring that the inpatient physicians knew all about his
patients, and moving his patients seamlessly back into his
care in the outpatient arena. At the reception for Ben, we
learned that he publicized a fictionalized account of his
intern year, under the pseudonym, John MacNab. We will
miss Ben’s kind manner and gentle wit, and we will all strive
to continue the excellence in patient care which Ben so
strongly exemplified. - Mark Zeidel”

Noah P. Hume ’75 shared a photo of Mani Simmons, their
daughter, Anella, and himself after having spent a deliciously
wet and blustery day on the Bay and San Francisco waterfront.
He writes, “I won’t talk about professional life, but to say we
were most thankful for the return of the westerly winds and
rains that quenched the NorCal Camp fire.”
