“Look, Imagine, Create”
In the second graders’ fall art unit, conducted
through Saint David’s partnership with the
Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the boys
spent their weekly 80-minute art sessions at
the Guggenheim Museum, where they studied
the iconic architecture of the building as well
as modern masterpieces from the permanent
collection, and worked on hands-on art
activities under the guidance of a museum
educator and their Saint David’s art teachers.
The term culminated with “Look, Imagine,
Create,” an event at the museum where the boys
acted as docents, presenting to their parents,
first graders, and faculty members what
they had learned about one of the
artworks studied. They also exhibited
their own work, which was inspired
by the unit.
