Kemi Badenoch , MP for Saffron Walden , boarded the Uttlesford Buffy Bus to see the playbus service in action .
Serving fifteen different communities in Uttlesford , from Saffron Walden to Stansted , the double-decker bus has been converted into a play area for children under 5 , complete with toys and learning facilities .
By taking the playcentre to them the mobile service gives new opportunities to local children , and is staffed by professional Early Years Workers .
“ Locally-run schemes like this are essential to many families in our district ” said Mrs . Badenoch .
“ Young children in rural areas can often miss out on these kinds of social

playgroups , so the Buffy Bus is an inspired initiative .”
“ As an independent charity , however , they rely on donations and Big Lottery funding which expires at the end of the year . They are currently in the process of putting together a bid for further funding , but they need your help . If you , or anyone you know has used the service , you should consider getting in touch with the team to offer your support – even just testimonials from satisfied customers will strengthen the application ”.
The Buffy Bus service is also looking for local business sponsors and supporters . Anyone interested in offering their support should contact 01799 522130 or email rose . juhl @ btconnect . com
