• Move away from 85 th percentile in determining speed limits , speed limits match street design .
Team 3 :
• I would love to see an eVort to update standards , so that safety improvements are applied by default wherever streets are constructed or reconstructed , and do not become political .
• Develop a speed limit policy .
Team 4 :
• Autonomous technology not there yet to improve safety especially given the existing hostile pedestrian / cyclist infrastructure .
• Look at the pedestrian and cyclist gradient of comfort as published by the League of American Cyclists .
• These community members should be invited to the UTA , TXDOT , hospitals , etc . meeting but this is a good item to have on separate meeting ( with multilingual translators ) – referring to “ Ask ESC members that represent disadvantaged communities to present at each ESC meeting on safety updates and community needs .”
• Non-English-speaking residents deserve prioritization and educational outreach ! Especially when they drive in a world they cannot understand ( ex . Reading road signs ).
Team 5 :
• Like car seat checks and fitting ( referring to “ provide training for bicyclists of all ages ”)
Review of Countermeasures Participants were asked to review the Safety Plan ’ s proposed countermeasures , using green dots for “ I like this action ” and red dots for “ I don ’ t like this action ”. In addition , they provided written thoughts and solutions .
