Public Meeting # 2 6-7:30 p . m ., Saturday , May 16 , 2024 George W . Hawkes Downtown Library 100 S . Center Street , Arlington
• Speeding enforcement
• Distracted driving
• Enforcement in entertainment district
Combined participant comments on Bicycle / Pedestrian High Injury Network :
• Extend the bike road to reach the TRE regional station ( connecting Green Oaks and River Legacy Network one with the train station ).
• Center Street and Mesquite need to have a protected bike lane . Often cars DON ’ T share the road and it forces bike riders to use the sidewalk or feel unsafe .
• Walkability should be provided around the stadium to ensure the growth of the City . Happens in areas near the stadium and we are ready for more transit .
• High pedestrian traVic area ( note on area around stadium )
• High number of students in transit are in this area ( note on area east of UTA )
• Protected roadway for bikes so that students can be protected , and we encourage bikeability around campus ( UTA area )
• Many bike riders use Collins and Cooper . If we provide them with a protected road , they will use that road instead .
• Sidewalks within 1 mile radius of schools
• Protected bike infrastructure – reduced speed limits near schools and in neighborhoods .
• High pedestrian stadium traVic
• Dangerous crossing ( South Cooper from S . Nedderman Dr to W . Park Row Rd )
• Cooper overpass – multiple accidents – usually left turn onto ramp to I30
• Unsurprising at Cooper , Pioneer , Arkansas , Matlock
• Center seems missing on data ; built like a highway with many intersections .
• Parking at Nedderman and Cooper
• No sidewalks on Division
• Street parking , no sidewalks , thinner roads make walking and biking hard
• Intersections
• Disadvantaged tracts – more likely for other types of transportation .
• Ped crossings with signals at Cooper near Martin High . Currently just sign and paving .
• Visibility for bikes while driving at night .
• Sound barriers near the entrance of the neighborhood can prevent lights from inside neighborhood from illuminating sidewalk . Can cause people to not see folks crossing at night .
• Recently they added lights at Havenwood and Frontage Road from 360 going south .
