Public Meeting # 2 6-7:30 p . m ., Saturday , May 16 , 2024 George W . Hawkes Downtown Library 100 S . Center Street , Arlington
Review of the Safety Data : High-Injury Networks Combined participant comments on Vehicle / Motorcycle High Injury Network :
• People still going wrong way on one-way streets .
• Often cars avoid the Collins and Cooper traVic by using Center and Mesquite . Hoping you all can do something about the traVic congestions on this road .
• Near First Methodist Church , serious accident , speeder hit pedestrian Sara
• There are often accidents near this turn as it connects to the SH 360 . I have seen 3 in one year .
• Lots of school traVic ( S Cooper below S Commercial Blvd )
• ( highlighted area on W Turner Warnell Road )
• ( highlighted area on W Bardin Road )
• ( highlighted area on W Arkansas Lane )
• ( highlighted area on Cooper near UTA Blvd )
• Questioning of Uplift Summit Prep School is a hazard
• Low / no lighting in residential area like so ( area indicated near Green Oaks / 360 area )
• Blind spot going north on Park Springs . TraVic turning left onto Park Springs . A sign to let drivers know to be aware .
• Sidewalks needed for children . Currently walk along side , heavy school traVic . ( area indicated on Collard Rd )
• TXDOT active transportation plan
• Drag racing on Cooper , under bridges specifically
• Green Oaks is very wide and encourages high speeds with River Legacy Park . There are lots of people who bike and run along Green Oaks , and more who would bike if felt safe to do so , safe roads for ALL
• Cooper ( highlighted E Park Row Drive and Cooper area ) through UTA is a hotbed of dangerous high-speed traVic . Elevated crosswalks and road diets measures combined with actual enforcement of posted speed limit would really help . It ’ s obvious that these dangerous drivers have no worry that they will be ticketed for speeding .
• Bridge over 20 has zero pedestrian facilities
• Cooper and Pioneer Parkway near Arlington - lots of crashes , dangerous
• Around UTA campus , lots of action
• Green = no sidewalk
• All roads leading to UTA and schools should have functional bike lanes
• Davis , Abram , Mitchell no bike lanes .
• Priority intersection ( highlighted area at Cooper and Nedderman )
• Student oV campus housing ( area north of Cooper and W Park Row )
• High speed roadways
