Crimson Sponsorship
Established in 1991, Melrose Café and Bar is a sports bar with two locations in Calgary: on the famous ‘Red Mile’ on 17th avenue southeast and 12th Avenue at 4th Street southeast. Supporting local amateur and professional sport teams is a speciality at Melrose including the Calgary Flames. The Crimson Sabres joined the ranks of sponsored teams in 2012.
Sponsorship with the Crimson Sabres is about building a relationship between the team, the players, and the Sponsor.
Melrose Café and Bar offers sponsored teams use of their space for private or public events. In October of 2012, the Crimson Sabres hosted the team’s fifth birthday party at Melrose in an event open to the public.
Individually, team members enjoy sponsorship privileges when they eat out at Melrose.
Melrose receives increased business and promotion from the team and team members. Melrose’s logo is displayed prominently on our team’s website, on our new banner, and on our team issues shirts. Bringing the Melrose name into the events and communities that the Crimson Sabres frequent is important to not only Melrose but to the team as well.
Fellow of Mercy Awards for 2010 and 2012
We are proud and honoured to celebrate the accomplishments of Sabre Leading Private Coral B and Sabre Corporal Shawn S as Fellows of Mercy. Shawn S won the competition for the 2010 season and Coral B for the 2012 season. There was no winner for the 2011 season. Congratulations to the two of you! In addition to the right to add FoM (Fellow of Mercy) after their name, they receive an additional dogtag to add to their team issued dogtags noting their win for their respective year.
The Mercy Challenge is an annual competition. Members of the fighter group in good standing can participate in the challenge. A mercy is a confirmed elimination of an opponent done at close range (less than 20 feet) and without paint. The attacker calls out mercy to the opposing player thus eliminating their opponent without firing a single paintball. A caveat is that the mercy must be confirmed to an officer of the Crimson Sabres to count towards the competition. Mercys are accumulated throughout the season with the Sabre with the most winning the competition for the season. At least three mercys must be attained by an individual in a single season for the award to be available. The competition resets for every new season.
