elcome to the first edition of
the Student Association Board
Bulletin! The purpose of this
section will be to promote communication
between YOU as student owners of our
association and the elected Board of
Directors. This bulletin is just one part of
a Linkage Plan that includes polls, focus
groups and information tables in the
cafeteria.
The Board is now six months into our
term of service, so there are a number of
decisions that have been made and much
has happened in the Student Association
universe. Today’s Bulletin will focus on
highlights from our monthly meetings

• May featured the first meeting of the
new Board with a focus on learning about
the student governance model. Other
highlights included transferring signing
authority to our Chair Scarlett Berry and
Secretary Cadence Gillis. Board members
got their first look at budgets and expenses
for the upcoming school year.
• June was an opportunity to focus on
teamwork among board members and to
begin the ongoing process of reviewing
and updating student governance policies.

Other highlights include the allocation
of funds for the re-design of the 4th
floor study area and the formation of the
Ownership Linkage and Election Planning
committees for 2013-14.
• July highlights included a meeting with
the Student Association’s independent
financial auditor and the introduction of
the issue of redistribution of Kingston’s
electoral boundaries. Another important
development was a review of funding and
approvals for student clubs.
• August was a busy month of preparation
for the new school year. Topics included
updates on the bus pass negotiations with
Kingston Transit, a review of food pricing
on campus and the introduction of the
first drafts of the Election Planning and
Ownership Linkage policies.
• September was highlighted by visits
from SLC President Glenn Vollebregt and
a presentation from Heather Gregg of the
SLC Marketing department regarding the
2012-13 KPI survey results. Other items
included the approval of the purchase of
new chairs for the campus Health Centre
and the final approval of the Kingston
Transit bus contract.
