Goodbye PAC, Hello Future
I
t is with a heavy heart that I sit
down to write what will be my
last Voice article as the PAC Team
Coordinator with the Student Association.
As I reflect on my experiences this year, I
realize how they have changed and shaped
me in ways that I couldn’t have predicted
at the outset.
When I first began my position just over a
year ago, I came into a tightly-knit group
who seemed solidified in their teamwork
and routines. They were familiar and
familial with one another, which was
something I deeply admired but wasn’t
sure if I’d be able to successfully mesh
with. However, after just a few weeks
on the job, I realized how quickly I had
been accepted as one of their own. It was
a feeling I had not yet experienced in a
workplace; one of “family”, cohesion,
support, and acceptance regardless of

where I had come from. I realized at this
moment that this was something I wanted
to strive for in every subsequent work
environment.
As a leader, I have encountered many
obstacles and challenges, but haven’t
gone unrewarded for perseverance and
dedication. The members of the PAC team
with whom I was fortunate to be able to
work displayed devotion and support to
one another and to their positions that
mirrored the way I felt about my job. I
could observe them become closer and
become a true team, which emphasizes
their dedication.
I learned how difficult it is to plan and
execute an event that is not only exciting
but engaging for students. In an age
where technology seems to be king, it is
sometimes very difficult to entice people
to step away from their devices and into
an unfamiliar conversation with a stranger.
Our successes (and failures) proved to be
learning experiences that we grew and
learned from. Though it was important
for us to succeed as a team, it was also
important to have instances in which
we would fail even though we planned
everything as it should be. From these
failures, we could grow as a team and learn
invaluable lessons for the future.
I want to express my sincere thanks to the
Student Association for providing me with
such a wonderful opportunity. I want to
express my thanks to the student body of
SLC for participating in PAC events and
supporting our initiatives. I will miss these
walls and faces! I wish each and every one
of you the success I know you deserve, and
all the happiness life can bring you.
