PROJECTS
Due to UV weathering, all the existing corrugated polycarbonate sheeting had to be removed from the roof areas.
issue and immediately recognised the need
for our Danpalon panel-based solution,”
explains Dayne Scrowther, Danpal SA
architectural solutions consultant.
Scrowther adds, “Here we had the
opportunity to not only replace the existing
corrugated polycarbonate sheeting, but to
drastically improve the building’s U-Value,
SHGC figures, aesthetics, eliminate hot-
spots and remove the need for additional
aluminium exterior louvres.”
Setting new standards
All these additional benefits also meant an
overall reduction of time on site – the cost
saving implications became all too
apparent as the project progressed.

“Our team of Danpal technicians worked
closely with MRC-Group to refine our final
system, with our Danpalon panels being
specially produced and flown directly in for
the project. The microcell panels were
specified to deliver the following figures:
SHGC 0.31, U-Value 2.4 and LT 23%,”
says Scrowther.
He continues, “BMW had an additional
aesthetic request for us to approximate the
design language of reflective finishes on the
building’s exterior and matt finishes in the
building’s interior. Fortunately, our solution
hinged on the use of our Danpalon Metallic
Ice panels along with the addition of our
proprietary SoftLite finish on the panel’s
interior surface.
With the selection of the correct Danpalon
panel, our offering ticked all the boxes and
then some!”
The integration of the Danpal Traditional
Roofing System, along with MRC-Group’s
new advanced concealed-fixing roofing
solution, has delivered on a promise of
superior performance and a rapid
installation.
According to Scrowther, “Danpal is now
the new standard for BMW Rosslyn and we
are specified for all upcoming phases – we
call this ‘light architecture’. BMW Rosslyn is
now well on its way to set new benchmark
records for production of the new X3 and
performance of the upgraded
building skin.”
