With over 25 facilities established, Dr Vivek Solanki advances healthcare delivery, innovation, and patient outcomes across underserved African markets.
Dr Vivek Solanki, a Zimbabwean medical doctor and entrepreneur, has been instrumental in expanding healthcare access across Eastern and Southern Africa. As executive director of Trauma Centre Borrowdale, he has overseen the development of more than 25 healthcare facilities, from specialised clinics to advanced hospitals, extending structured medical services into previously underserved regions.
Early career and regional expansion
Dr Solanki began his medical career in 1988 when he moved to South Africa. He quickly became a flight surgeon and launched the country’ s first private trauma centre at Arwyp Hospital in Kempton Park. Over five years, he helped establish more than 15 trauma centres across South Africa and Zimbabwe, and coordinated nationwide emergency services for MTN’ s 112-emergency line, managing ambulances and helicopters from a central hub.
