Founder of Capital Assignments, Phryne Williams has nearly three decades of experience in executive search within the financial services sector.
More than 25 years ago, Phryne Williams blazed a trail pioneering South Africa’ s first executive search and recruitment firm exclusively for financial services companies. It is an industry she loves for its high stakes as well as the calibre of people and expertise within it. Williams’ s entrepreneurial journey began nearly three decades ago with the founding of Capital Assignments, an executive search firm specialising in the Financial Services sector. As director and owner, she has built a reputation for strategic talent acquisition, with a focus on Board, C-suite and senior executive placements both locally and globally.
Her path to business ownership was not linear. After graduating as a teacher, Williams made a bold career shift into recruitment, and what began as a Cape Town startup has evolved into a respected boutique firm under her leadership. From day one, she built the business on the executive search model, guided by her belief that“ strategic headhunting is the gold standard for identifying and engaging talent and making costeffective, successful placements”. Williams prioritised training and upskilling her team, implementing best practices to meet the rigorous demands of the Financial Services industry.
