A new solar project is bringing businesses closer to energy independence. With expanded capacity and grid connection secured, it’ s poised to play a key role in accelerating the country’ s renewable energy future.
Energy Exchange of Southern Africa( EXSA) has joined forces with Sustainable Power Solutions( SPS) to launch SlimSun Too, a landmark solar Independent Power Producer( IPP) project that will supply clean, cost-effective energy to South Africa’ s national grid.
The 5 600kWp solar farm, covering 10 hectares, is expected to generate around 12 million kWh of renewable electricity annually. SPS is both the IPP and the EPC( Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contractor, while Investec is financing the R87-million development. Under a long-term partnership, EXSA has signed a 10-year Power Purchase Agreement( PPA) with SPS, reinforcing its commitment to supporting sustainable energy solutions in South Africa.
