“HEADBAND” After Sasuke left the village Naruto sleeps/slept holding his headband. - LUNA YIN YANG “ THE DIFERENCE IS...” Sasuke knew what he felt for Naruto, I think he knew since he gave his life for him at the battle against Haku: because the rea- son why killing Naruto would make him powerful is because he loved Naruto. Los- ing him would awake the Mangekyo Sharingan. The Uchihas are a clan based on love; their power grows on very stressful situations, especially when they or their loved ones are in danger. The point is that for a long time, Sasuke saw his feelings for Naruto as a weakness. That's how he perceived it, as we found out on chapter 698. And since it made him feel weak, he had to destroy them, cut them, and delete the past, because apparently, the pain of losing him would make him more power- ful. That's what he had learned. Sasuke was always obsessed with power because when he needed to be strong he couldn't. An eight-year-old child against a corrupt, twisted world. A kid that lost eve- rything and blamed himself because he felt like he hadn't been strong enough to protect it. But in the end, he just couldn't. The thing is that as much as he wanted, as much as he tried to do it, Sasuke could never kill Naruto. Naruto, on the other hand, draws strength from love, his endless capacity for persever- ing and even reaching out to others that don't deserve it. For Naruto, the real power is in union and cooperation. Because fighting for your loved ones is what makes you stronger. That's why their last battle was "A battle for Love and Power". Sasuke had given up love in all its forms be- cause deep inside I think he was terrified. Terrified to feel weak again, terrified to lose those he loves the most once again. Sasuke is a warrior in every sense of the word; he fights against his enemies the same way he fights against himself, against his fears and weaknesses: he goes for the kill. For Sasuke, power is equal to protection, in the same way that it is for Naruto. Sasuke wanted to protect the memory of The Uchi- ha Clan at first, then the memory and ideals of Itachi, and in is own way, the world itself. Naruto wanted to protect his loved ones and the world just as it was. The big difference is that Naruto was des- perately pursuing love and trying to make bonds with whoever he could. Meanwhile, Sasuke had closed his heart and given up on love. But in the end, they had the same profound and visceral reason: Fear of the hell that is losing everything and being incapable of protecting what they love. A terrible fear of the hell of loneliness. - ZENY 9
