FanZone We all have those iconic Rugby World Cup moments that will forever be etched on our minds. The fans share their most memorable Rugby World Cup moments. Haseena Saley Jan-Paul Viljoen David Radebe I think the 2003 World Cup was a shocker for rugby fans when England won. I say this because even as a person that doesnt really follow rugby i am aware of the three dominant teams which are South Africa, Australia and of course New Zealand. However they played well and deserved the win but it was a shocking win I must say. I remember a while back when the 1995 Rugby World Cup was aired again on television with the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Springboks victory. The entire match was a kicking match, and at the end of the day, not a single try was scored, but I can vividly remember sitting next to my dad on the couch, watching a game together that made history, literally sitting at the edge of my seat even though I knew from the histories that the Springboks would win. The game was almost constantly neck-and-neck, but in that final moment when Joel Stransky sent the ball sailing over the goalposts, breaking the tie that went into overtime and winning the game. The 2003 Rugby World Cup is undoubtedly my best World Cup. It was a moment to be cherished. It was a moment to remember. The Boks made startling statement. Despite the loss we retained our glory. We were dismissed with our heads held high. We lost with pride. It was one heck of a fight Die Bokke brought. Heroes and giants of Africa stumbled but not fell. Knocked but not out.
