Fiji
Nickname: The Flying Fijians
World Cup appearances: 6
World Cup best finish:
Quarterfinals 1987, 2007
Nicknamed “Flying Fijians”,
Fiji comes into the tournament
having been crowned Pacific
Nations Cup winners.
Fiji rose to prominence after
defeating Wales 42-32 and gave
the eventual winners South Africa
a scare in the 2007 World Cup.
Since then, the Flying Fijians
have been phenomenal to watch.
With the likes of Akapusi Qera
and Alipate Ratini, Fiji have a
perfectly blend of experience and
youth that can help the replicate
the side’s heroic fireworks of
2007.
Fijians seem to perform well at
the World Cup tournaments and
rightly so, they have what it takes
to cause one of the major upsets
in the tournament’s history.
