If badges were a standard in your company for evidence at appraisal then you would very quickly see those who were learning new skills or consolidating existing ones which might help you more quickly identify those employees in the company who might be fast tracked to promotion or who need more support. Imagine comparing the above employee’s badges to another employee when both were applying for promotion. If the second employee only had 4 badges of which 2 weren’t relevant to the role then you may find it far easier to make a decision on promoting the right individual.
