Organising Committee’ s Address
We were truly honoured to receive the responsibility to organise the 69th Kali Puja celebrations at Russa Road South 1st lane from the 28th to the 31st of October.
Our theme for this year was‘ Sonatoni Srijon’.
This year we endeavoured to showcase the purity of the Bengal Art Form through the manifestation of our protima, pandal, and prangon. This year we worshipped Kali in her role as the Divine Mother – the eternal force behind all creation. In order to achieve this, we went back to nature – whence we came. Our pandal was in the style of an old village temple – quaintly traditional. We used hessian cloth( chott) & other traditional jute products to drape the temple and hand-woven baskets( jhuri) along with earthen pots( bhnar) were used as adornments. Kali herself was designed by Shri Sanatan Rudra Pal. Even our chandelier was completely designed out of jhuri and bnash.
The puja was inaugurated by Shri Aroop Biswas, Hon. Minister for Sports, Public Works & Youth Services( West Bengal). Following the grand inauguration, we also felicitated two of our locality’ s most eminent residents – Bengal’ s ex-cricketer Shri Debu Mitra and National Award-winning filmmaker Shri Sanjay Nag.
