“Yield,” she said. “God said He wants you to yield to Him completely.” As the tears poured down my face, I whispered, “I don’t.t know how.” She looked at me for a long time and then she began to pray. “Lord, teach her how to yield. Teach her how to surrender all to you.” At that moment, something inside of me broke. Something inside began to bubble up and the next thing I knew, I began bawling.

For at that moment, I knew, I knew that if I wanted a breakthrough, if I wanted deliverance from what was weighing heavily on me, not just for a moment, but for it to be gone forever, I would have to yield. I really did not know what it meant, all I knew was that I wanted, no, I needed to surrender all to Him. It was then the elder that was praying for me, began to walk me through the process and I obediently did as God was instructing her to teach and tell me.

It ended up taking two elders to deliver me. God knew that it was going to take the both of them to get me to where He wanted me to be. He knew that my love for Him would get me to do what He wanted me to do. I did it. It was not easy, but I got through it. I am eternally grateful for His love and mercy.

I walked away whole.

As I lay down that night thanking God for all He did for me, I began wanting to know more about yielding to God. I knew I needed to know what the word meant. I began wanting to know how to submit totally to God, so when satan reared his ugly head, I would no longer become victim to the situation or to him.

My quest begins.

The word yield means, to give up; surrender. Yield; submit means giving up to a stronger force and, usually, ceasing to fight against it. Submit suggests giving up all resistance and giving in to God.

I went online to find all the scriptures that pertained to yielding. In Romans 6:13, 16 & 19, it is written, “And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.”
