I sat there fuming. “How dare they treat my Friend like that???” I fumed. I wanted to jump through the screen and snatch that cat-of-nine-tails out of their hands and beat them!!!
And, once again, the tears flowed. This time they flowed because I KNEW He took each lash for me, He took them for YOU, as well!!! I sat there, with tears flowing and feeling helpless. I felt helpless because there was nothing I could do to stop the beating He was getting.
Yes, I know it all happened over two thousand years ago. Yes, I knew He did it for us. Yes, I knew he wanted us to know what He went through for us. I knew all of that. But, as I sat there, knowing all of this, a seed was planted. Now, I wanted to know what I could do, so that what Jesus sustained would NOT be in vain.
It’s “funny” how we can watch something, not knowing that it’s going to be a life-changing moment or a game-changer on how we live our lives. It was at that moment, when I uttered, don’t know if I said it out loud or in my head, “What can “I” do, so that what YOU (Jesus) went through, wouldn’t be in vain???”
“Love My people.”
“Huh???”
“Love My people,” He said again.
“Huh, love Your people???”
“Love My people the way I’ve loved you. Teach them to love, the way I taught you.”
“Lord, You know I don’t like people,” I said as I thought about how I’ve watched them wrong me and hurt others. They always have some type of agenda for all they do.
“This is why I taught you how to love and not allowed others to teach you. Now it’s time for you to start pouring into others, the same way I’ve poured into you. Each time you do, I will pour more, until you reach all of My Children. They will come to me, wanting to learn more of the love you have taught them.”
“But, what if they don’t want it?”
“Don’t worry about that. As long as you tell them and they see it, a seed will be planted. You just keep going until there are those who will receive and don’t take it personal, because it’s not you, it’s Me in you, they refuse to receive.”
“Okay, Lord.”
And, the journey and assignment began.
